The opulent, one-of-a-kind Ty Warner Penthouse soars 800 feet (244 metres) above the street. Created by visionary architects I. M. Pei and Peter Marino, the suite was seven years and USD 50 million in the making and offers incredible 360-degree views. Four glass balconies are set on a diagonal to the north-south, east-west grid of Manhattan, capturing distinctive views. Oversized, single-paned windows and glass railings ensure that your sight line is uninterrupted.
Sumptuous and stunningly beautiful, the 600-square-foot (56-square-metre) master bedroom features walls with hand-applied straw marquetry by French artisans, as well as a wall-to-wall custom carpet. Sculpture, hand-stamped Venetian velvet, Thai silk with 22-carat gold threads and custom-designed furniture, each a piece of art in its own right, accent the room. The master bathroom is entirely clad in custom slabs of rare Chinese onyx and includes sinks carved from solid blocks of rock crystal, underlit with LED lighting. The spacious living room is highlighted with treasures such as hand-hammered cast-bronze baseboards, 18th-century Japanese silk pillows and a dramatic crystal chandelier, all surrounded by hand-lacquered walls with mother-of-pearl inlay. To the south is the library, lined with hundreds of volumes on art and culture housed in bookcases framed by an exquisite bronze leaf motif. A whimsical gilded bronze chandelier and a Bosendorfer grand piano take center stage.
The suite is completely wired with an invisible audio system and an ultramodern lighting system. A private elevator, equipped with a touch panel with advanced security features, whisks you directly to the 52nd floor.
